A moderate crowd assembled at Pittodrie to witness the Northern League game between Lochee United and Aberdeen. The following players answered the call of the whistle of Mr. John Davidson, Arbroath:- Lochee United: Robb; A. Morrice, Stewart; Smith, J. Morrice, Fraser; Rodger, Downie, Sturrock, Blair, Vigrow. Aberdeen: Bisset; Walker, Ross; Mackie, Thomson, Murphy; Paterson, Breslin, Woodlock, Buchan, Shiach.
Both goals were subject to attacks early in the game, and the custodians had mainly to deal with grounders. By good half play Lochee bore down, and Sturrock narrowly missed scoring. Bisset was kept lively, and twice in rapid succession had to throw out from corner kicks. Runs and counter runs were the order of the day, and each goal was bombarded in turn, though if points had been wanted, the teams would have had to be less reckless of shooting. Towards the close, Aberdeen made a strenuous effort to score, but Robb was in splendid form, and saved again and again. Half time arrived with no scoring.
Lochee opened vigorously, and had hard lines in not equalising. Aberdeen then asserted themselves, and after gaining a fruitless corner, Shiach scored with a high curling shot, which passed over Robb's head. For a considerable tie the United's defence was hotly besieged. Breslin, Mackie, and Woodlock were noticeable for hard shooting. Near the close of the match Lochee made a desperate effort to retrieve themselves, and in a melee Downie was hurt, and had to be assisted off the field.
