In a Northern League match at Pittodrie these teams met before a meagre attendance. Teams:- Dundee Wanderers: Don; Chaplin, Taylor; McInroy, Fenton, McInally; McKenzie, Walker, Dougall, Burns, Grieve. Aberdeen: Bisset; Walker, Ross; Sangster, Thomson, Murphy; Mackie, Breslin, Woodlock, Buchan, Shiach. Mr. J. Miller, Kirkcaldy, was referee.
Aberdeen at once made off, and Shiach was in the act of passing to Woodlock when Petrie stepped in and drove the sphere up the field. Burns and Grieve wrought hard, but Ross cleared in the goalmouth. McInally was conspicuous for a solo run, but Thomson grassed him in the nick of time. Aberdeen pressed with great spirit, but a cross wind was the main factor of their none-success. The Wanderers then took up the running, and wrought hard for goal. Walker and Dougall passed all opposition till they met Ross, who, assisted by Murphy, staved off the danger. Mackie had a pretty run, and passed to Breslin, who missed, and Taylortransferred play to the other end.Buchan then had a commendable try, but Fenton robbed him of the leather none too soon. A grand chance was given the visitors through Chaplin, but the forwards failed to take advantage of it.
On resuming, Wanderers were very lively, and Dougall capped a splendid run with a smart goal. From that time Aberdeen had the visitors "on a string," and but for Don's remarkable saving would have won the match.
