On Saturday afternoon at Pittodrie Park, Aberdeen, these teams met in breezy but bright weather, and on a sodden pitch, before a fairly large attendance in the first round of the Fleming Charity Shield. The teams were - Peterhead: John Buchan; Reid, Shand; Davidson, Anderson, George Ross; Imlay, McEachran, Robertson, A. Buchan, Adam Ross. Aberdeen: Bisset; Walker, J. Mackie; Inglis, Thomson, Murphy; Smith, C. Mackie, Macdonald, Woodlock, Shiach. Mr. Arthur Watt, Aberdeen, was referee.
Peterhead kicked off against the wind, and got down the first minute, but the ball went behind. Aberdeen retaliated, and had the better of the game for some time, but the wind spoiled their intentions. C. Mackie nearly scored after a fine individual run, and was afterwards responsible for several creditable efforts of his own. Peterhead's right repeatedly broke away, but they were not supported. C. Mackie scored an easy goal, but it was well deserved. Aberdeen did most of the pressing, and Peterhead were rarely dangerous, their defence being hard put to it. A few minutes before the interval, Macdonald added a second point for Aberdeen.
On resuming, the visitors set off with great dash, and G. Ross scored after a few minutes' play. Throughout the period Peterhead played very hard, and the local defence were kept busy. Bad luck and a diagonal wind upset their calculations, however, and the game ended without further scoring.
