Arbroath A met Aberdeen A at Gayfield in a friendly game. Teams:- Arbroath A: Strachan; Carrie, Connacher; Gill, Mathers, Ford; Fairweather, Cargill, Sinclair, Leuchars, Salmond. Aberdeen A: Ritchie; Moir, J. Mackie; Black, Thomson, Wright; Clark, Anderson, Barron, Wilson, Fitzpatrick. Referee - Mr. J. Colville, Arbroath.
Aberdeen won the toss, and Sinclair set the ball going for Arbroath. After the game had been some time in progress Barron ran right up the field and opened the scoring for the visitors. Barron again, after a spell of hard pressing by the visitors, put the ball through. Off-side was claimed, but the point was allowed. Arbroath played up well, but up to half-time there was no further scoring.
On the resumption of play, Aberdeen set off, but Strachan cleared, and the homesters got up to Ritchie. The Aberdeen defence, however, proved sound, and got rid of the pressure. The locals now took the game in hand, and pressed the Aberdeen defence. The visitors, however, broke away with a rush, and netted the ball, but the point was deducted for offside. The Aberdonians were not to be denied, and Clark put on a third point from far out.
