Centre Hart
Within a minute Proudfoot trailed the ball up the right wing and crossed beautifully for Aitken to head in off the post. The deciding goal came two minutes after half-time, when Aitken slipped the ball through for Gardiner to score. the centre was hurt in the process and was not so effective in the later stages. For the last half-hour the East Fife defence was overworked, but with a lot of hard work and a little luck - the ball was twice kicked off the line with the keeper beaten - they survived.Source: Evening Express, 17th August 1950
