THE young Dons scored their ninth successive win on Saturday, when they beat Stirling Albion "A" 5-4 at Pittodrie, but they came very near to spoiling their record.
Their attack has made a name for itself as goal getters - they have not scored fewer than four goals in any of their last nine games - and it was fortunate that they maintained their high rate of scoring on Saturday.
THEY were fighting most of the time, not against the Stirling Albion defenders, but against their own. All four of Stirling's goals could have been prevented.
Bruce and Alan Rodger never got a grip and though Kenny Thompson was afflicted by the same trouble in the first halt, he managed to recover after the interval. It was lucky for Aberdeen that he did' otherwise the points would almost certainly have gone to Stirling.
The forwards compensated for the drab display of the defence, with some bright and entertaining football. Hay and Newlands were best and both were among the goals. Hay's winning goal, seven minutes from time, was the best of the match.
