BILLY SMITH, the former Sunnybank inside forward, starred at centre half-back for the young Dons against Hearts "A" at Pittodrie. He completely tied up Durkin, and when Sloan
moved to centre for a spell he fared no better than his colleague.
Smith has shown such aptitude for a defensive role that the club, faced with a shortage of full backs, might do no worse than give him a trial in this position. Anderson and Wallace, the wing half-backs, also had a good game.
Aberdeen "A" just deserved to win by the only goal scored by lan Rodger. Johnny Logie, the Elgin City winger, who was on trial with Hearts, got little opportunity to show what he could do, so seldom did he get a pass.
