Good wing half-back play by Samuel and Anderson featured the performance of the Aberdeen reserves at Methil, but it was not sufficient to provide victory.
The Pittodrie forwards could not translate their outfield superiority into goals, and with fewer opportunities the East Fife attack got three goals.
Ian Rodger, a most consistent marksman this season, got the Bons' goal. McNeill and Hather combined well at times on the left, and in defence Smith had another good game at centre half-back.
