28/03/1908 | KO:

The Aberdeen A team visited Peterhead on Saturday, and met the local eleven in a friendly match on the recreation park. The weather was mild, and there was a large crowd of spectators. Mister R. Massie, Peterhead, was referee, and the teams were as follows:-

Aberdeen A: Mutch; Hannah, Brebner; Davidson, J. J. Simpson, Morgan; Macdonald, our Simpson, Mckinley, Ritchie, Robertson.

Peterhead kicked off, and the exchange's for the first few minutes were even. Peterhead put on a stiff pressure, and forced their way down to the Aberdeen goal. Ross, by a smart piece of work, got well in, and shot across from the extreme left. The ball was caught by Cadger and immediately passed to Buchan, who had little difficulty in finding the net. Peterhead continued to press, but the visitors wakened up, and gradually got the better of their opponents. Both forward lines visited the opposite goals fairly often, but the Aberdeen men were more frequently dangerous. The persistent efforts of the Aberdeen were ultimately rewarded, McKinley equalising at close quarters. No further scoring took place, but the visitors continued to have the best of the game.

After crossing over, Aberdeen commenced to press, and for a lengthy period their forwards were in dangerous proximity to Pyper, and the custodian had to save several stiff shots. The play gradually became more even, and the Peterhead once more had most of the play. They were often near Mutch, and had hard lines in not scoring. A considerable degree of ill-feeling was shown between the sides, first on the part of the Peterhead, and then, in retaliation, by the visitors, and the standard of played deteriorated greatly in consequence. No scoring took place in the second half, and the game ended in a draw of one goal each.
