Odd Goal in Three Victory at Peterhead.
Peterhead gave Aberdeen a hard run for their money in the first of the home-and-home matches in the eliminating round the Dewar Shield at Recreation Park on Saturday. Despite the slight superiority of Aberdeen in football technique, Peterhead played pluckily, and in fact had decidedly most of the play. Yet the finishing of the home forwards was poor, and spoiled innumerable chances that were provided by the half-backs. Aberdeen scored their first goal soon after the start, Adam netting a cross from Westland. The second goal came shortly before halftime, when, gathering a cross from Anderson on the drop, Conwell smashed the ball into the net well beyond W. Duthie's reach. A few minutes later Peterhead decreased the visitors' margin through a penalty kick taken by Burnett. The second half comprised a hard tussle for more goals, but neither team succeeded in scoring again.Source: Press & Journal, 25th April 1935
