Aberdeen 'A's Victory Over Cowdenbeath

Two penalty goals within a minute made victory for Aberdeen "A" secure in their Scottish Alliance match with Cowdenbeath "A," which provided the Christmas football attraction at Pittodrie Park, Aberdeen yesterday afternoon. The local reserves were a trifle lucky to lead by three goals to one when the final whistle went.
The opening ten minutes of the game saw Cowdenbeath in the ascendancy, and when Birrell headed through from one of the many corner-kicks which fell to the visitors, it was in accordance with the run of play. Thereafter the play of Aberdeen improved, and foolish actions on the part of Cowdenbeath defenders, who were inclined at times to resort to unsportsmanlike tactics to stop the advances of the opposition, put Aberdeen on the lead. Main would have scored after a fine run down the field had not the ball been handled, and from the penalty kick Grant scored. Seconds later the outside left repeated the performance when his own shot from the wing was stopped in its flight to the goal by the hand of an opposing back. The second half was evenly contested, and fifteen minutes from close of play Pirie headed through a beautiful goal from a corner.
Wilson and Birrell were prominent for the visitors, while Aberdeen were well served by Pirie, Grant, Bruce, and Main. Over 2000 spectators watched play under ideal weather conditions.
