Fright For Young Dons

Last-Minute Victory at Hampden.

The Alliance leaders' visit to Hampden was marred, from a spectacular point of view by a gale and driving rain.
The Strollers gave the Dons' reserves a bit of a fright, the visitors at one time being a couple of goals behind, and this with the wind at their back. Faulty goalkeeping on the part of Watson, the homesters youthful 'keeper, allowed the Pittodrie side to take full points from a game which was worthy of a draw.
The Strollers' fast and open play in both periods proved the best tactics for the conditions. Paul was a dashing leader, and gave Thomson and Jackson a great deal of trouble. The speedy wing raids by Crawford and Smith also kept the visiting defence on tenterhooks.

Dallying Dons.

The young Dons played too closely, McDermid and Warnock particularly erring in not opening up the play.
Mutch and Johnston, on the visitors' extreme wings, failed to get their crosses over accurately, and Armstrong, in the centre, had a poor afternoon.
Godfrey and Donald played a forcing game at half-back and David, introduced into the side at back, was the better defender. Cumming was at fault when the homesters opened their account, but subsequently had many fine saves.
The "Spiders" opened the scoring in twenty-minutes through Brown who netted direct from a free kick.

Quick Scoring.

A minute from the interval Mutch capped good work by Donald by equalising from close range.
Soon after the resumption Crawford scored twice in quick succession, the Aberdeen backs being at fault on both occasions.
Godfrey brightened the visitors' chances with a good goal and then Armstrong equalised with his head ten minutes from the end. Five minutes later McDermid bustled through the winning goal.
