Young Dons' Adieu to Second XI Trophy at Hamilton

Aberdeen A made an unexpected exit from the Scottish Second XI Cup at Douglas Park. A few weeks ago the Pittodrie side trounced an Alliance team from Hamilton, which was short only of three of the first team players. After making a good fight in the third round tie on Saturday, the young Dons faded out of the picture in the last half-hour.
Cumming had a brilliant save from Dick in the first few minutes. He pulled down a high ball and succeeded in clearing although hampered by D. Wilson and Graham.
At the other end Armstrong drove over the bar after an opening had been made by McDermid and McLean.
Rather against the run of play, King scored for Hamilton after 17 minutes, after strong play by Cox. The Dons did not deserve to be down at the interval.

McLean's Equaliser.

Adam was the first to make ground for the visitors on the resumption and sent in a terrible drive which Shevlin was relieved to see go past the upright. Armstrong almost had the equaliser when he drove in a terrific ball which rebounded off the upright. A minute later McLean levelled the scores with a shot which beat Shevlin all the way.
Cox drove the ball in and it rebounded to Dick to send it into the back of the net, to give Hamilton the lead. Five minutes later D. Wilson put on a third with a great shot after a fine solo run.
The Dons never gave up trying, but in the last half-hour they were not very convincing.
