Home Player Puts Through His Own Goal.
Aberdeen "A" scored a narrow but well deserved victory over Galston in an Alliance match at Galston. The Young Dons were the cleverer side in the first half, but they could not convert their outfield superiority into goals during the first half hour. The Ayrshire men took the lead when Melville scored from a penalty. This roused the visitors, and in a hot attack Bell had some dangerous shots to deal with. Galston almost added a second, but a minute later Armstrong put the Young Dons level, and just on the interval the same player got off on his own to put them ahead. The Pittodrie reserves were the better team in the second half, but in a Galston breakaway Reid equalised. The Young Dons continued to have the better of the exchanges, but it was near the close ere they secured the winning goal as the result of Melville beating his own 'keeper.Source: Press & Journal, 26th March 1934
