Young Dons In Bright Mood

A Nap Hand Against Motherwell "A."

Aberdeen A were in their brightest mood against Motherwell A at Pittodrie. Five goals by the Young Dons greatly pleased the crowd in the first half. The home forwards were more subdued in the second period, which was goalless.

Aberdeen A's first half performance was all the more creditable by reason of the fact that they were facing a stiff breeze. Devers and Spittal had two goals each and Moore one. Each goal was the result of fine combined work by the three inside forwards. Motherwell A played pretty football this half, but their close tactics did not pay.
The game was fought out on even lines after the resumption. The visitors worked hard for a goal, but were up against a sterling defence. Aberdeen, though less frequently on the attack this period, always shaped more dangerously than their opponents.
Moore and Devers were the danger men in the home attack. Spittal took his two goal smartly, but on both occasions the ball was "teed up" for him. Gavin was best in a strong mid-line, and N. Smith of the local Banks o' Dee, impressed at left back. Motherwell's best were Ogilvie and Wyllie forward, and Johnston centre half.
