Forwards' Poor Finishing Against Beith.
Beith, the Southern Qualifying Cupholders, earned their Scottish Alliance point at Pittodrie by reason of a great defensive display. At the same time Aberdeen A should have won with something to spare. The finishing the home forwards was poor in the extreme. Certain scoring chances were frittered away time and again, much to the exasperation of the crowd. Johnston gave the homesters the lead nine minutes after the start with a well-placed shot. A penalty kick, awarded soon after the restart, saw Beith draw level. Westland saved Sneddon's spot kick, but the Beith man caught the ball as it came out and drove into the net. Faultless, the Beith goalkeeper, gave a brilliant display. He was well supported by two sturdy backs.Beith Attack Dangerous.
Beith were dangerous when they got on the attack, and the veterans, W. O. Clark and Sneddon were a continual menace to the home citadel. The Aberdeen defence played a steady game. Craigen, the amateur, impressed with his sure kicking and tenacious tackling. Claude Sharp made a welcome return on the other defensive flank. Ritchie pleases more and more in his role of pivot. The home attack were clever in the outfield, but overdid the fancy work. Johnston. Donald, and Conwell caught the eye most. Beith will cause Buckie Thistle a lot of trouble in the Scottish Cup-tie at Buckie.
