Forwards Easily Mastered by Home Defence.
A strong display by the Hibs' defence was the feature of the Alliance match at Easter Road, where the young Dons were rather unlucky to be beaten by two clear goals. Their forwards did well in the outfield, but at close-quarters they were somewhat easily mastered by the Edinburgh defence, in which McDonnell was outstanding. The visitors attacked in the opening stages, but they were soon on the defensive, and Westland was repeatedly in action. It was no surprise when Flucker opened the homesters' account in ten minutes. The Young Dons made a spirited reply and the Hibs had an uncomfortable time. Adam shot weakly after he had been given a splendid chance by Sharp. The Edinburgh men resumed strongly and within a few minutes they Increased their advantage. Gibb headed past Westland. Play swung from end to end after this, and although both custodians were tested in turn there was no further scoring. The Aberdeen "A" attack was more in evidence towards the close but Blyth was not seriously tested, except for one great shot by Conwell. The Young Dons were best served by O'Reilly, Ritchie, Love and Conwell, while Hibs' stalwarts were Blyth, McDonnell, McKinven and Flucker.
