Brisk Match with Hamilton
A brisk pace was maintained throughout at Pittodrie when Aberdeen A met Hamilton A under Alliance League auspices. The young Dons played a fine, combined game, and despite the strong efforts of a determined Hamilton force, were worth their 3-1 victory. Scott, centre-forward, scored two the home team's goals. His first, near the interval, came as a result of good play by Ritchie Smith. After beating two opponents, he shot for goal. Goodwin could only knock it down, and Scott pounced on the rebound to find the net. The centre put the young Dons further ahead three minutes after the resumption when he accepted a fine pass from Bain and found the corner of the net with a low shot. Following a free kick. Park reduced the leeway in the first ten minute of the second period. Soon after, Aberdeen still having the better of matters, Ritchie Smith netted, but the whistle had previously gone for an Infringement. Aberdeen, however, were still on top, and settled matters with a third goal close on time, Devers giving Goodwin no chance with a hard shot. It was hard-fought game, In which Aberdeen held the advantage. Hamilton showed fine spirit, and played particularly well in the opening stages. The attacking force of the homesters was determined and clever, and but for the splendid play Goodwin, in the visitor's goal, they might have been further ahead. Scott was a penetrative centre, who was well served by Bain and Devine. Temple played well at right-back, while Westland was a safe custodian. Goodwin, Higgins, and Dewar were the best for Hamilton, proving a strong defence trio. McLaren, their centre, gave a good account of himself.Source: Press & Journal, 16th December 1935
