The Dons first home under 18 league clash was played at the University Playing Fields, Balgownie. Fergus TIERNAN gave Aberdeen's youngsters an excellent start when he headed home after just eight minutes. However, despite several chances to increase their advantage, they let their physically stronger opponents back into it. After being awarded a penalty kick which was saved by Mark Peat, the Dark Blues levelled just before the break.
The visitors used the weather conditions in the second half and, following a mistake in the Dons defence, took the lead. A long range shot which gave Mark Peat no chance made it 3-1 shortly afterwards and, despite late pressure from the home team, the Dark Blues held out for a comfortable win.
