HEARTS FLATTERED
Aberdeen had the pull until half-time, and Hearts were flattered by being on equal terms. The resumption saw Aberdeen launch a quick attack, and if the inside trio had given less attention to frills goals were there for the asking. Hume did make one great individual effort, and from an awkward angle had Moodie full stretch. After seventeen minutes Rennie seized chance to slip a second past McQueen. Aberdeen pressed desperately, but poor finishing lost good openings. With fourteen minutes to go Hearts got a doubtful penalty. McQueen saved the kick, but it had to be retaken because of an infringement. Miller made no mistake the second time. Six minutes later Ferguson headed home from a corner to give Hearts a flattering victory.Source: Press & Journal, 6th April 1939
