Aberdeen 3 - 0 Arbroath

WILLIE WALLBANKS, who led the Aberdeen reserve attack against Arbroath in the second round of the Scottish Second XI. Cup at Pittodrie last night, was their match-winner. He netted all three goals to give them a 3-0 success.
It was a creditable performance on the part of the Young Dons. Arbroath, who fielded what is practically their recognised "B" Division team, were well beaten. McKenna and McCall of the Aberdeen League side turned out in this game.
Wallbanks got the only goal of the first half three minutes after the start, when McCall lobbed the ball forward and the centre headed over the advancing Barrie into the net.
Ten minutes before the interval Gavin brought Spalding down inside the penalty area, but Barrie saved McCall's spot kick.
Thirty minutes after the start of the second half Wallbanks fastened on to cross from Spalding, beat "Newman" and sent into the net. It was another Spalding - Wallbanks movement that brought the third counter just on the whistle.

Cooper Outstanding

Aberdeen "A" were sound in defence. Cooper was outstanding at back, and McKenzie and Merchant played well in the half line. Wallbanks and Spalding were an enterprising pair of attackers.
Barrie brought off many fine saves for Arbroath, and Hamill and McGinley were a hard-working pair of half-backs. Murray was a clever and dangerous inside-right.
