Case Of How Many Hibs

A SECOND half injury to McVean, about the only home player to compare favourably with his opposite number, cannot be put forward as an excuse for the Young Dons' 4-0 defeat against Hibs "A" at Pittodrie. The game was won and lost by the time McVean was hurt.

It took Hibs thirty-eight minutes to open the scoring - and even then it was a penalty - but from the outset the game had all the signs of a win for the visitors. Players like Howie, Reilly, Cuthbertson and Aitkenhead stood out in this company, and it was only a question of how many goals Hibs would score.
The Aberdeen team were a feckless lot. Bruce again disappointed in goal, and it was seldom that Lambie, the new centre was seen. He was too slow and deliberate.
After he had been fouled by Cooper, Aitkenhead hit the first goal from the penalty spot. After the interval Reilly and Armstrong changed places, and almost immediately the former scored a second. Cuthbertson, the strongest inside man afield, snapped a couple before the end, and the rout of the home team was complete.
