UNDER appalling conditions at Pittodrie yesterday the Young Dons managed to end their sequence of defeats. A draw was just about right in a game in which the players stood up well to the elements.
Satisfactory from an Aberdeen viewpoint was the good form shown by Scott, the young goalkeeper from Leslie Hearts, on his first appearance at Pittodrie, while Chris Anderson, home on Army leave, had another good game at right half-back.
Owing to the non-appearance of Lambie. George Merchant turned out to lead the home attack. He [started] off well by scoring a goal in the the first few seconds, but after that was well held by Bowman.
Dundee's Danes
Included in the Dundee side were the two Danish players - Neilsen at left back and Johnson at centre forward. The later impressed more than his countryman, and gave Roy many uncomfortable moments. Also in the Dens Park team was Syd Gerrie, inside left of Loco Works, but he had a poor game.
Merchant's opening goal off Anderson's clever pass put the home side off to a flying start, and they seemed to be sitting pretty when Ian Jamieson cleverly took a second counter in eighteen minutes.
Dundee, however, with Rattray doing the scheming, fought back well, and it was fitting that the inside right should score in thirty-one minutes.
Dundee assumed distinct territorial advantage after half-time, amd in twenty-eight minutes McKay equalised after Roy had failed to check Dunbar as the left winger chased a ball that seemed to be going past.
