LIKE the first team, the Aberdeen reserves didn't get the breaks against Celtic "A" at Pittodrie. They ware beaten by an injury to Scott, their young 'keeper, and a penalty goal. The score against them was 3-2.
Even so they cannot escape criticism. They held a two-goal lead until a minute from the interval, and then frittered it away.
A Skaters' Waltz surface did not provide a true test of football skill.
Anderson's Promise
Aberdeen have an up-and-coming half back in Chris Anderson. A well set-up lad who came to Pittodrie from Mugiemoss, he is home on leave from the Services. He is impressive on the ball and looks like developing into a good attacking half-back. Anderson is due for demobilisation in a month or two.
Archie Glen, at inside right, was another youngster who revealed ability in spite of the underfoot conditions. He also promises to make the grade.
Aberdeen reserves' first goal was a good one. In thirteen minutes the ball went from Massie to Hume to Glen to Lambie and into the net.
Glen got the second goal with a twenty-yard drive from a pass from McVean, and one minute from the interval McLaughlin counted for Celts after they had a goal disallowed.
Five minutes after the restart Cannon levelled the scores. The winning goal came from a penalty after Scott had to retire with a shoulder injury. Roy handled and Lynch netted from the spot kick.
