IT was not until the second half that the Young Dons got a grip in their game against Third Lanark at Cathkin Park.
In the first half they were a feckless lot, squandering many golden opportunities in front of goal. Lambie missed a sitter when he had only the home keeper to beat, but he made amends for this by scoring a grand equalising goal just before the interval. Bogan had scored for Thirds in the fifteenth minute.
Craftsman in the Aberdeen side was Archie Baird. He was here, there, and everywhere trying to get his colleagues going, and laid on some glorious passes.
When the teams changed round, righthalf McVean who had injured his knee, went to outside left for Aberdeen, and in few minutes scored with a shot which went in off the woodwork.
It was shortly after this that Baird got the goal he deserved, and he was followed by Thirds' star Bogan, who completed his hat-trick.
The Dons had now wakened up, and goals by McVean and Lambie gave them a nap hand. The latter was always a source of worry to Thirds' defence. "Newman" got Thirds' last goal.
