Young Dons Fight Back
With a 2-1 victory over St Mirren reserves at Pittodrie last night Aberdeen "A" earned their first home points of the season. They fought back after losing an early goal and were deserved winners.
In view of the dissapointing form of the Aberdeen League sidethe form of the reserves was closely watched. The best propositions in the side on last night's form are Curran, Thomson, Gillies and Smith. The new full back formation of Preston and Emery was not very polished, but both got in plenty of good clearances.
Thomson marred an otherwise good Thomson display by some slackness near the finish, and one or two goals might have accrued from his slips.
Facing a strong sun, the home side were a goal down in eleven minutes. Smith crossed a tempting ball and Jack beat Curran to the jump to head a beautiful goal.
Dons Superior
For the rest of the half the Aberdeen side was superior, with Gillies and Smith causing the defence plenty of trouble. It was fittin that they should both score within a minute. Smith shot home off a defender after a Gillies effort had been blocked.
A minute later Thomson placed a free kick bautifully and Glen headed the ball down for Gillies to shoot past Campbell. That finished the scoring, although the Paisley defence was hard pressed to hold out at times in the second half.
