Unhappy Day For Thomson

In recent weeks we have been pleased to record how well the young Dons were progressing, but they have fallen from grace with a bang ! Two games played over the New Year and not a point to show for their efforts is bad enough - ten goals against in two matches is terrible!
At Dundee on New Year's Day they were possibly unlucky to lose so many goals - 2-1 against would have been a fair reflection of the game, played on a very icy pitch.

On Monday, against Motherwell, conditions were even worse, and for a time the game developed into a skating match. At one time the referee did his sledging act much to the delight of the spectators (isn't it funny how we all act like young boys when we see the referee falling on his back ?). Supporters would have been interested in the display of young Yorston, home on leave. Harry showed that his spell in the army hasn't done him any harm - he has lost none of his ability as a footballer and looked the picture of health. When he returns to Pittodrie for good in a few months' time Harry should soon become a favourite.

THE hard, slippery condition of the pitch made good football almost impossible at Pittodrie yesterday, when the Young Dons were beaten 5-3 by Motherwell "A" in a Reserve League game.

Thomson, the home centre half, had an unhappy day against Leitch, who scored four of his side's goals. Robertson got the other.
Massie and Robson, the full backs both had a steady game, and Robb was the best of the half-backs.
Smith and Glen were the most enterprising home forwards, and got the goals between them. Smith had two.
