ARCHIE BAIRD "fathered" Aberdeen’s young reserve forwards in the "C" Division cup game at Berwick, and the lads responded so well that the Pittodrie reserves added to the reputation they had made for themselves on the same ground in a League game earlier this season.
McNeill and McMillan profited from Baird’s scheming and got a goal apiece, apart from playing well. Clelland, who continues to show promise, co-operated in the tricky football provided by the Aberdeen forwards, and also scored a goal.
Strength at half-back was another of the young Dons’ trump cards. Samuel and Wallace were grand wing half-backs, and Billy Smith effectively stopped Juliussen.
