Aberdeen met the Pars in this league match fielding a young team. The first goal scoring opportunity fell to Aberdeen in the 20th minute when Michie headed over a McKenzie cross. A good run from Carella ended with his shot being blocked. Immediately after,Turner put Michie through and he easily beat the Dunfermline keeper to put the Dons in front. Peat kept the Dons in front in the 36th minute with an instinctive save.
Aberdeen went further in front in the 55th minute when Michie knocked a Carella free kick into the net. Dunfermline came back into the game when they scored in the 65th minute after poor defending by Aberdeen. Fifteen minutes later a poor defensive header led to their equaliser.
