The Dons got off to a terrible start, with new boy, Jared Hodgkiss conceding a penalty after only 23 seconds to a harsh decision. Hale stepped up and sent Bateman the wrong way to give the home side the lead. The Dons were level on seven minutes as Hodgkiss played the ball forward to Tommy Wright who cushioned the ball down to Paton, the youngster firing in a great cross which Wright finished with a fine header across the keeper.
The Dons deservedly took the lead after 23 minutes. Chris Maguire was hacked down and from the resulting free kick from Sone Aluko, Maguire managed to get across the defender and glance the ball into the net. Michael Paton then finished off a good first half with the third goal just before half time. He created space for himself at the edge of the box and his shot went in off the post.
Fraserburgh were back into it on 64 minutes when Russell McBride, a defender who had been put up front in the second half, headed home at the back post. They got level with a dubious penally that allowed testimonial man Derek Milne the chance to get on the score sheet which he did, although Bateman was unlucky as he got a hand on the shot.
