Hibs went in front after three minutes through Ross Chisholm with a dipping shot from thirty yards. Two minutes later, Stephen Pinay took advantage of an error before slotting the ball into the corner of the net. Just aft half time Yantomo went through and with the Aberdeen defence appealing for offside he calmly placed the ball into the net to put Hibs 3-0 up. 81 minutes and Gary McDonald latched onto a loose ball after good play by de Visscher and hit a fierce drive past McNeil to get a goal back for the Dons. 87 minutes McNeil, who had an outstanding game, could this time only fumble a Mulgrew free kick and McDonald was on hand again to force the ball over the line. From nothing the Dons had forced a grandstand finish but they could not get an equaliser.
