Utrecht 1 - 1 Aberdeen

Aberdeen put in a better performance against the classy Utrecht, but once again found themselves a goal down early on. In the 7th minute a deep cross from the left found one of the Dutch forwards and he looped his header over Preece and into the back of the net. Aberdeen dug in and when the equaliser came, it was a spectacular effort. A Tosh free kick was headed on by Diamond to Stewart. When it broke Adams the new signing hit the ball from 25 yards into the top corner.

Utrecht then had the better of the play but some stout defending and some fine stops from Preece kept the Dutch side at bay and earned the Dons a hard earned draw. Utrecht went on to win the mini tournament courtesy of a 3-0 win over Dovo.
