Dadi too cool for young Hibees

Aberdeen under 21's recorded their second win of the season, beating Hibs 2-1 at Pittodrie. Eugene Dadi put in a fine display and scored both goals. Fans will be hoping he can do a similar task this Saturday at Livingston.

Aberdeen started the stronger of the two and created an opening in the first minute. A Duncan cross was cushioned towards Michie by Dadi only to be halted by the linesman's flag. Hibs first shot at goal came in the 8th minute when Smart set up O'Connor. He shot across the face of the goal and beyond Peat's far post. Two minutes later the Dons won a free kick 20 yards from goal. The ball was rolled to Duncan, but he took too long and when he eventually fired in his shot he had been forced too wide and failed to test the keeper.

Zitelli went close for the visitors in the 13th minute. He ghosted into the penalty area to meet a cross, but scooped his effort over the cross bar. The Dons broke the deadlock in the 17th minute with a fine passing move between Duncan Michie which left Dadi with a simple tap in. Two minutes later Peat made a fine save diving to his right to deny Reid after good build up play by Hibs. Rachid Belabed picked up the first booking of the match for a crude two-footed tackle in the 23rd minute. From the resultant free kick Smart latched on to the delivery, but turned the ball inches wide.

Both teams were looking to add to the scoring and both O'Donoghue and McKenzie tested the keeper from distance. Dadi was also putting in a good shift up front and causing the Hibs defence problems. In the 38th minute the Ivory Coast striker put a clever ball through to Bett, but the young keeper was down quick to block his effort. A minute later Payne went close with a 20-yard drive. Dadi was on target again in the 42nd minute when he headed home a free kick swung in by Payne. Disaster hit Terry Kidd in the 45th minute when he attempted to clear the ball and ended up slicing it past Peat.

Hibs were buoyed by their late lifeline and made a strong start to the second period. In the 46th minute Anderson did well to prevent Riordan from scoring with his first touch of the ball and a minute later Peat made a fine save from a fierce Zitelli drive. Bett should have done better in the 50th minute when after a great solo run he ended up shooting straight at the keeper. Two minutes later Michie went close when he beat his marker to connect with a cross from Callum Bett.

Zitelli should have done better in the 58th minute when, after timing his run to perfection to collect a long pass, he screwed the effort wide of the target. Dadi was substituted on the hour mark seconds after being booked. No doubt to rest him for Saturday's match. He left the field to a warm round of applause and was replaced by Calum McHattie. Dempsie was booked in the 66th minute for kicking Robert Duncan up in the air. Les Byle followed him into the book three minutes later after disagreeing too strongly with the referee.

Hibs had upped their work rate and it took a good block by Peat in the 70th minute to deny Riordan. Two minutes later O'Donoghue went close with a long-range effort. Bett was forced to leave the pitch in the 77th minute with an injury. Alan Carella replaced him. Smart should have levelled for Hibs in the 86th minute. With only Peat to beat he blasted the ball wide of the target. Peat did well again a minute later to deny Hibs then the Hibs trialist keeper also made a fine save at the other end to deny Belabed.
