TONY HARRIS, the Dons’ right half-back, who missed Saturday’s game at Motherwell because of an injury received during training at Gleneagles, can be regarded as an almost sure starter in the Cup final against Rangers on Saturday.
The players are still at Gleneagles, and speaking from there last night Mr David Halliday, the Dons' manager, said that Harris was much better. He will miss this evening's game against Falkirk at Brockville.
George Hamilton, who left the field at Fir Park with a head injury twenty minutes from time, was not seriously hurt and is likely to play against the Bairns.
Falkirk's defeat, coupled with a win for Motherwell, has once more complicated the bottom-of-the-table position, although tonight’s three games should help to clarify things both at the top and bottom.
Key Players Missing
It is a curious feature that in each of the three games one of the clubs at least will have key players missing. Rangers, who go to Motherwell, will be without Cox (injured at Wmbley) in addition to Woodburn and Simpson, who are still under suspension.
This gives Motherwell a golden opportunity to snatch safety points, and it also lessens the Light Blues' chances of accomplishing the League and Cup double.
At Easter Road to-night it looks as if East Fife will have to take the field without Charlie Fleming, who pulled a muscle at Parkhead. Also doubtful is lan Gardiner, the other inside forward, who was suffering from muscle strain after the game with Celtic.
The absence of this pair would seriously impair the Methil club's chances of winning the title and qualifying for the Coronation Cup tournament.
