As the rain poured down in Aberdeen, the Dons headed off to the fairer climes of Dingwall to continue their pre-season preparations against 1st Division Ross County. After a dull first 45 minutes, it was a comfortable win for the Dons in the end.
Both teams served up a fairly lacklustre first half with neither side taking the game by the scruff of the neck. The Dons carved out a couple of chances as did Ross County, but Peter Kjaer in the Aberdeen goal pulled off a couple of good stops to keep things level at the break.
The second half saw a more entertaining game as goals from Laurent D'Jaffo, Leon Mike, Derek Young and youngster Scott Michie for the Reds and a penalty counter from Ross County saw the Dons run out easy winners.
The Dons struck early in the second half to take the lead. A cross from substitute Derek Young was cut back by Phil McGuire and Laurent D'Jaffo was on hand to finish after 48 minutes. The lead was shortlived however, as Ross County equalised 7 minutes later. Eric Deloumeaux conceded a penalty which Steve McGarry slotted home for Ross County to bring the match back all square.
Aberdeen restored their lead after 70 minutes when a ball over the top from Darren Young was met by Leon Mike who slotted home to put the Dons back in front. With 10 minutes to go, a cut back from Leon Mike was duly despatched by Derek Young to extend the Dons' lead. Two minutes later a short headed pass-back in the Ross County defence was met by Scott Michie who added the Dons' fourth.
