There is no use blinking facts, and it is undoubtedly true that after the first twenty minutes the Pittodrie visitors played a brand of football that the home side couldn't match. The amazing thing is that in the opening stages Motherwell played second fiddle and looked almost a beaten side. Had the Dons got another goal in that initial spell, it is quite possible that the visitors would have "folded up". As it was, the Dons gradually lost that early rhythm, during which time they showed some brilliant football and when, with a little care, they might have added to their score. But Motherwell equalised, got a second goal very soon after, and, from there never looked back. The fog, which had looked as though it might cause postponement, lifted slightly, and play could he followed reasonably well till the end. The "ten-men" Dons must he given credit for a fight back against odds, but the damage had been done.
