Old Colours
When the teams run on to the field today, some onlookers who followed the fortunes of the Dons between the two wars will look wistfully at the East Fife colours and tell the youngsters how well the Dons used to look in the "Black and Gold," and of the teams that did so well in the old colours. However, most will agree that the Dons in their present colours look very smart. The match today will recall to many the extraordinary turn of fortune in the game at Methil earlier in the season. The Dons led by three goals to nil in the second half and were apparently "cantering home." However, the men of Methil staged an amazing recovery and actually won. The Dons on that occasion could be faulted for a certain amount of casual play - a "one goal against us doesn't make any difference" that eventually proved fatal. We feel sure they won't repeat that error.Source: Match Programme, 19th January 1957
