Good Win
Considering the Queen of the South had beaten Hibs and Third Lanark in successive weeks, the victory of the Dons at Palmerston Park was all the more satisfactory. It can be said that Dame Fortune wasn't on the side of the Dons (except possibly in the case of the second goal!) for they hit the woodwork several times and, in addition, the ball was scrambled clear of the Queen of the South goal-line on more than one occasion. If the Dons could be faulted, it would be because of their failure to drive home their clear superiority in the first half. The home side had a short hectic spell after they got their equalising goal, but the Dons suddenly look a grip, equalised through an "own goal" effort and from then on dictated the running of the game.
Unlucky
Alex Young has had a most unfortunate spell recently, and once again last Saturday he needed attention from the doctor. This time a boot "got"
his face and he required four stitches!
In the previous visit of Queen of the South Reserves, the Young Dons had a casualty in young Ewen. That would suggest rough tactics on the part of the "Doonhamers," but such is not the case, of course.
