Young side hit for six

A very young Dons U21 side was thrashed 6-0 by an in form Rangers outfit. The Glasgow side had fired eight past Partick Thistle in their previous match as they faced an Aberdeen team with an average age of eighteen and a half. The home side took the lead through Dobie in the 20th minute and the same player added a second just before half time despite the youngsters matching their older opponents for most of the half.

Aberdeen could have pulled one back in the 55th minute, but Bob Malcolm did well to get back and clear the effort from the line. The loss of three goal in a seven minute spell midway through the half ended the match as a contest and Gibson added a sixth with 5 minutes to go after Peat had denied Dobie his hat trick with a magnificent stop minutes earlier.
