Dons and well share points
Aberdeen U21s drew 0-0 this afternoon with Motherwell. In a closely matched encounter, the Dons probably just shaded it in terms of possession and pressure but were unable to find the net. During the first half Richard Foster hit the bar and Darren Mackie's follow up effort was saved by the Motherwell goalkeeper. In the second half a Chris Clark free-kick was also well saved by the keeper. The Dons should have had a penalty when Darren Mackie was brought down in the box but for some reason the referee failed to give the decision.
New keeper Kris Robertson will have been pleased to keep a shut out during his first 90 minutes in an Aberdeen jersey. There were also notable performances from Alexander Diamond and Kevin Rutkiewicz in defence, whilst up front Darren Mackie looked lively throughout.
After the game Neil Cooper spoke with Redweb "I was pleased with the effort shown by the boys. They worked really hard and played some good football but we did not show enough creativity in the final third of the park."
