Following a fairly even first period in which Australian striker David Zdrilic hit the post, the visitors broke the deadlock with twenty minutes remaining when John Stewart picked up the ball midway inside the Hibs half, beat a defender, before coolly slipping the ball past the keeper into the net.
The Dons scorned chances to extend their advantage with Bryan Prunty missing when one on one with the keeper and Zdrilic firing wide but manager Neil Cooper was happy to collect the three points.
"There wasn't a lot between the sides and I'm delighted with the way we coped with what were very heavy conditions. Fergus Tiernan played the full ninety minutes after injury and Michael Hart also came through the whole match unscathed. Ryan Esson also deserves a mention as he was at the top of his game, pulling off some excellent saves."
