A change of tactics after the break saw the Dons adopt a 3-4-3 formation with O'Leary, Considine and Donald looking solid at the back and Aberdeen looked threatening up front. The equaliser came in the 70th minute as Considine (pictured) steered a McInnes free kick into the net. Aberdeen introduced McGuire into the match and despite still being a player in the development squads he equipped himself well and went close to scoring and also created a good chance for the team. United had Cameron dismissed in the 86th minute and although they finished the stronger they couldn't grab the elusive winner.
Neil Cooper spoke to Redweb after the match and was pleased with the performance of his young team. "I was pleased with the boys efforts today as they really defended very well. We had much the younger side out as we had many 16 year olds in their first season whist United had boys in their final year and this does make quite a difference. I have to say I thought it was a fair result at the end of the day."
