It was almost an instant replay minutes later but this time Considine's effort crashed off the bar. Sloppy defending gifted the visitors an equaliser just before the interval and the Dons went in at the break level with the prospect of playing into the wind in the second half.
However the home side coped well with the conditions and regained the lead four minutes after the break when McInnes hit a superb free kick after Donnelly had dummied. Willie John Kiely added a third in the 69th minute to wrap up the points. The only sour note was the dismissal of Grant Fraser six minutes from the end after receving two yellow cards.
Neil Cooper was happy with the performance and told Redweb, "I think the result was a fair reflection of the way the match went. The lads have to be commended for the way they handled what was very tricky conditions."
