Motherwell were the stronger team in the second half and got a deserved equaliser in the 75th minute through Coakley. Coakley then got his and Motherwell's second in the 80th minute when the Dons defence were caught square in the box. Motherwell's third goal was down to sloppy play by Aberdeen as they allowed Quinn to waltz through the defence and fire past Blanchard.
After the game Neil Cooper said "One goal was never going to be enough to win the game. I was disappointed with our second half performance especially the way we conceded the three goals but having said that all of their three goals were good strikes."
