Young Dons below par.

The youth team had their first outing of 2005 this afternoon as they faced Dunfermline at East End Park. Despite taking an early lead through Bagshaw the Dons lost out to a couple of late strikes in a match that had it its moments of controversy.

The Dons went ahead after only five minutes when a long throw from Donald, which was headed on by Macaulay and turned into the net by Bagshaw. The early strike was cancelled out in the 24th minute when Kay converted a corner kick to bring the Pars level. In the second half the Dons had the ball in the net when Macaulay scored but the referee chalked the goal off and further controversy ensued when Dunfermline took the lead in the 81st minute.

Blanchard was adjudged to have picked up a pass back despite his protestations that a Pars player was last to touch the ball. Hunter eventually scored from the free kick that was awarded eight yards from goal. Then with four minutes remaining the home side added a third when both substitutes combined to score. Smith cutting the ball back from the bye line for Ogg to score from close range.
