reserves held to a goalless draw

Livingston and Aberdeen's second strings braved atrocious conditions to fight out a goalless draw in an entertaining SPL reserve encounter at Almondvale.

The visitors could have gone in front in the opening minute when a Scott Muirhead ball found John Stewart only for the young striker to screw the ball wide. And the Dons had what looked like a perfectly good effort chalked off in the 72nd minute when Fernando Pasquinelli found Stewart who squared the ball to Ashley McInnes who fired home only to see the assistant's flag raised, apparently for offside.

Livi could have sneaked the points late on when a free header from close range brought out an excellent save from Ryan Esson.

Manager Neil Cooper was happy with the ninety minutes. "Our appetite was good and we passed the ball well. I thought we created more chances than they did and, to be honest, I saw nothing wrong with the one that was not given. It was an excellent performance all round and I was particularly pleased with the way our more experienced lads played."
