A 14th minute Fernando Pasquinelli strike was sufficient to give the Dons second string all three points in a close tussle with Motherwell at Ochilview. The move was started by David Donald, who went on a run down the left before finding Scott Muirhead, whose cross was flicked on by John Stewart, via a defender, to the Argentinian who made no mistake.
Shortly afterwards, the former Livingston man found himself one on one with Barry John Corr and although he managed to direct the ball beyond the keeper, centre back William Kinniburgh appeared from nowhere to clear the ball off the line.
The visitors enjoyed the better of the second half and, while failing to add to their total, came close with a Steven Craig shot that flew wide and a Stewart effort from a Muirhead cut back that crashed off the crossbar.
