The Dons and Hearts second strings fought out a dull goalless draw at Forthbank in a game with chances at either end few and far between.
One pleasing aspect for boss Jimmy Calderwood was the fact that new signing Richie Byrne came through the first half, as planned, with no ill effects from the groin injury that has been causing problems.
The visitors best chance came in the second half when Thorarinn Kristjansson was through one on one with Tepi Moilanhen but delayed too long allowing the keeper to block his shot. Other than that, a couple of long range Scott Morrison efforts were the best Aberdeen could muster.
