This time Kiely made no mistake and his powerful header found the corner of the net. The remainder of the first half was a fairly even affair with both sides spurning chances. The home side drew level just after the interval. It was Cummings who netted after some poor marking at the back from Aberdeen. The Dons were quick to regain the lead however when Thomson scored a second after 50 minutes. Neil found Thomson, who was quick to drill home a low volley that gave the Dundee keeper no chance.
Dundee started to force the play and won a series of corner kicks but the Dons defence stood firm. With only five minutes remaining Aberdeen were reduced to ten men when Grant Fraser was shown a second yellow card, but it was the Dons who almost added a third when Kiely ran through on goal in injury time only for the keeper to produce a magnificent save.
After the game Neil Cooper gave his reaction to Redweb, "The boys applied themselves well and I am really pleased for them, especially after the heavy defeat against the same team a few weeks ago. Skinner did well in his first start for the team and Fraser was having a great game before the second yellow. The boys did well to see out the win and could easily have had a third at the death."
