Dons sunk by nearest challengers

The young Dons stay top of the SPL reserve league despite suffering a rare defeat at the hands of challengers Celtic at Celtic Park. The first half was a fairly quiet affair with only a good Greg Kelly save from a McGlinchey header worthy of note.

However, the home side started strongly after the break and took the lead in the 59th minute when a long ball was played through to O'BRIEN, who beat the offside trap and slotted the ball past Kelly.

Eight minutes later, Celtic doubled their advantage when WALLACE chipped home from the edge of the box. Three minutes later, the game was beyond the Dons when LAWSON converted from the penalty spot after Kyle Macaulay had brought down McGlinchey.

With eight minutes remaining, Aberdeen pulled one back when good work from Darren Mackie and Macaulay ended with Steve CRAWFORD firing home a deflected effort from fifteen yards.
